Influencing state legislation

Emerge Career collaborated with Senator Will Haskell to pass SB334 allocating funding to to train justice-involved individuals to obtain Commercial Driver's License.

Serving those that need it the most

Working directly with CBOs on the ground, Emerge Career recruited participants to join the program. Of these, 40% were unemployed. Meanwhile, 60% were employed but earning an average of $14.25 per hour. Many were still in halfway houses.

A win-win-win initiative:

  1. Jobs for re-entrants: average base salary of $75,313 in CT
  2. Taxpayer savings: research from MNDOC shows that reentry employment services decreased the risk of re-incarceration by 55%
  3. Employees for companies: research shows that second-chance employees are more motivated and loyal
