Between late January and early April 2026, Emerge Career conducted 24 community events across every borough in New York City — an average of more than two events per week. These weren't webinars or email blasts. They were real, in-person sessions in libraries, community centers, reentry organizations, and a federal probation office — staffed by Emerge's team, accompanied by food, and designed to do one thing: get justice-impacted New Yorkers closer to high-paying CDL careers.

The Numbers

Three Event Formats

Study Halls were the backbone of the quarter — recurring weekly sessions at public libraries and community spaces where enrolled participants prepped for the Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP) exam with hands-on coaching. By the end of the quarter, the Harlem study hall series posted an 85% permit attainment rate, and the Bronx series hit 83%.

Activation & Info Sessions combined recruitment and engagement — introducing the Next Mile NYC program to new audiences in the neighborhoods where they live, then transitioning into study hall mode for those already enrolled.

Partner Recruitment Events embedded Emerge directly within established reentry and workforce organizations — including Exodus Transitional Community, Neighbors in Action, BOGAP, and the EmpowerHer Job Fair — giving the team direct access to justice-involved individuals already engaged with trusted community institutions.

Why In-Person Events Matter

Emerge Career is a technology company. The training platform is online. The learning hub works on a phone. But the events are in-person — and that's intentional.

Most people navigating reentry don't find workforce programs through Google. They hear about them from a case manager, a parole officer, a friend, or a community organization they already trust. In-person events create the trust that digital outreach alone can't. When someone walks into a study hall and sees a dozen other people in the same situation, actively studying for an exam that leads to a $80,000+ career — that's more convincing than any ad.

Every event was staffed by Emerge's team. Every event had food. And every event was designed to remove friction: no sign-up fees, no prerequisites, no gatekeeping. Just show up.

Q2 programming is already underway. On April 16th, Emerge Career and Next Mile NYC are hosting a CDL Employer Hiring Event at the Brooklyn Public Library — a structured hiring event where trained CDL drivers can sit across from companies that are actively hiring. On-site interviews are on the table.

85% — The Quarter's Best

On April 2nd, Emerge Career hosted a daytime study hall at 8 West 126th Street in Harlem, running from 2 to 4pm. The turnout was strong, the energy was high, and the numbers were the best of the quarter: 85% of participants booked their permit on the spot.

That number represents what happens when consistent weekly programming, one-on-one coaching, and a self-paced learning platform come together. The participants at this session weren't all new — most had been attending Harlem study halls since February. They'd put in the hours on the Emerge Career platform, worked through the hard parts with coaches, and taken (and passed) the CLP exam at the DMV.

From Permit to CDL

With their CLPs in hand, these participants are now moving to the next phase: behind-the-wheel training at Emerge's partner driving schools across the five boroughs. That's 4-6 weeks of hands-on instruction in a Class A truck, followed by the CDL road test. After that? Job placement with second-chance employers at salaries averaging $80,000 — with some positions paying up to $125,000.

The pipeline is real: study hall → CLP → behind-the-wheel → CDL → job. And it starts with showing up.

Harlem Led the Way

Harlem hosted more Emerge events than any other neighborhood in Q1 — seven total. The WeWork on 126th Street became a hub for participants across Upper Manhattan, and the recurring format — same place, same time, every week — created the consistency people needed to follow through. This final session, with its 85% attainment rate, was the payoff.

Bedstuy Keeps Showing Up

On April 1st, Emerge Career hosted a study hall at 1958 Fulton Street in Bedstuy, Brooklyn, running from 1 to 3pm. This was the latest in a series of Brooklyn events that had been building momentum all quarter, and the results showed: 67% of participants at this session booked their permit on the spot!

Two-Thirds of the Room Booked Permit Appointments

That means that two out of every three people had a date locked in for their next big step in the program. They were in the session to keep building, help others who were still prepping, and connect with coaches about next steps — scheduling behind-the-wheel training, understanding DOT physical requirements, and getting matched with partner driving schools across the city.

For the third of the room still preparing, the session was pure CLP prep: practice tests, concept review, and one-on-one coaching.

Brooklyn's Strongest Quarter

Brooklyn hosted six Emerge events in Q1 2026 — spanning Brooklyn Heights, the Central Library, Bedstuy (multiple sessions with Neighbors in Action), and Brownsville. The borough has one of the highest concentrations of justice-impacted individuals in the city, and the turnout at every session confirmed the demand.

Closing the Quarter in Queens

On March 31st, Emerge Career held its final Q1 study hall at the Ravenswood Community Learning Center in Long Island City, running from 3:30 to 5:30pm. This was the fourth Queens event of the quarter and the third at Ravenswood.

The 40% permit attainment rate for this session reflected a room that was still early in their journey — many participants had only recently enrolled and were building their foundation. That's exactly what study halls are for: getting people started, keeping them moving, and making sure they're not doing it alone.

Four Events, One Borough, One Quarter

Queens went from zero Emerge events to four in a single quarter. The Ravenswood Community Learning Center proved to be the right anchor — accessible by transit, welcoming to participants, and centrally located for residents across Western Queens.

For participants who are still working toward their CLP, the work continues. Every enrolled participant has a dedicated Success Coach who checks in daily, and the Emerge Career Learning Hub is available 24/7 on any device. Study halls supplement the self-paced training — they don't replace it.

Queens in Q2

Closing Out Q1 in Mott Haven

On March 31st, Emerge Career held its final Q1 study hall at 111 Bruckner Boulevard in Mott Haven, hosted in partnership with Bronx HYPE. This session ran from 6 to 8pm and capped off a month of weekly study halls in the South Bronx.

The numbers told the story: 83% of participants who attended the Bronx study hall series attained their Commercial Learner's Permit. That's not a projection — it's what actually happened.

What 83% Means

An 83% permit attainment rate means that the overwhelming majority of people who showed up to these sessions, put in the work, and stuck with the program earned their CLP. That's the gateway to behind-the-wheel training, the CDL road test, and a job paying $75,000 to $125,000 a year.

For context: nationally, many workforce programs measure success by enrollment numbers. Emerge measures success by outcomes — permits earned, CDLs obtained, jobs secured, and salaries paid. The Bronx study halls are a case study in what happens when you combine good training with consistent, in-person support.

What's Next for the Bronx

The Q1 Bronx series is done, but Emerge's presence in the borough isn't going anywhere. The partnerships with Bronx HYPE, the REM Center, and the Family Empowerment Center will carry into Q2 with expanded programming.

Mott Haven, Week Three

On March 24th, Emerge Career hosted its third study hall at 111 Bruckner Boulevard in Mott Haven, the South Bronx. By this point, the Bronx study hall had a regular crew. Participants were showing up week over week, building on what they'd learned, and getting closer to test day.

Repetition Wins

Passing the CLP exam isn't about memorizing answers — it's about understanding the material well enough that the test doesn't surprise you. That takes repetition, practice, and feedback. Study halls provide all three in a single session. Participants cycle through practice tests, flag the questions they're getting wrong, and work through those concepts with a coach until they stick.

The Bronx participants were hitting their stride. Several were scoring above 80% consistently and planning to take their exams within the week. Others used the session to review DOT physical requirements and make sure their medical clearance was in order before test day.

Consistency Is the Strategy

Emerge ran six events in the Bronx in Q1 — four of them at this exact location. Showing up at the same place, same time, week after week is how you build trust in neighborhoods that have been over-promised and under-delivered to. The South Bronx study hall isn't flashy. It's reliable. And that's the point.

Back at Ravenswood

On March 24th, Emerge Career hosted another study hall at the Ravenswood Community Learning Center in Long Island City, Queens, running from 3:30 to 5:30pm. This was the third Queens event of the quarter and the second at Ravenswood, which had quickly become Emerge's home base in the borough.

Steady Progress

Recurring sessions in the same location create something you can't build in a single event: momentum. Participants who had attended the March 10th session were back, further along in their prep. Some were scheduling their CLP exams. Others were working through the final practice modules before test day.

Coaches focused on the areas where participants were getting stuck — air brake diagrams, pre-trip inspection sequences, and the general knowledge questions that trip people up most often. For anyone still figuring out how to schedule their CLP exam in New York, the team helped with that too.

Queens Keeps Growing

By the end of March, Queens had hosted four Emerge events — a pace that matched what was happening in the Bronx and Harlem. The Ravenswood Community Learning Center's central location and transit access made it a natural anchor for the borough, and word of mouth was doing its job.

Partnering with Exodus

On March 20th, Emerge Career held a lunch and learn at Exodus Transitional Community at 2268 3rd Avenue in East Harlem. Exodus is one of New York City's most established and respected reentry organizations, providing housing, case management, and support services to people coming home from incarceration. This partnership was about connecting their participants with a direct path to high-paying CDL careers.

Why Exodus

Exodus serves individuals at one of the most critical moments of reentry — the first weeks and months after release. Housing is stabilized. Case management is active. But employment? That's often still a question mark. And it's the question that determines whether someone stays stable or falls back.

Emerge's Next Mile NYC program answers that question with a specific, high-paying career path. CDL training that starts on a phone. A dedicated coach from day one. And direct placement with employers who are actively hiring — at salaries between $75,000 and $125,000 a year.

Lunch Was on Us

Emerge ordered pizza for the session. But the real value was the conversation. Exodus staff asked sharp questions about how the program tracks outcomes, how it handles participants with complex schedules, and what happens if someone hits a barrier during training. These are the right questions — and they're the ones Emerge's platform was built to answer.

Multiple Exodus participants started applications before the session ended. Several more followed up in the days after.

A Full Room in Harlem

On March 19th, Emerge Career hosted another study hall at 8 West 126th Street in Harlem — and the room was packed. This was the latest in Emerge's recurring Harlem study hall series, and by this point in the quarter, participants were deep into their CLP exam prep. The energy was different from the first session: less what is this and more I'm taking my test next week.

From Practice Tests to Permit

By mid-March, several Harlem study hall regulars were scoring consistently above 80% on practice exams — the threshold where we feel confident they're ready for the real thing. Coaches used this session to do final reviews, run through common tricky questions, and walk participants through what to expect on test day.

Others were earlier in the process — working through general knowledge modules, learning about vehicle inspection sequences, or getting familiar with air brake systems for the first time. The study hall format handles all of it because each person works at their own pace with coaching available whenever they need it.

Harlem as Emerge's Anchor

Harlem hosted more Emerge events than any other neighborhood in Q1 — seven total across East Harlem and Central Harlem. The WeWork on 126th Street became a second home for participants across Upper Manhattan. It's on the 2/3 line at 125th, which makes it accessible from the Bronx, Washington Heights, and across Harlem.

Pizza was served. Several participants left with DMV appointments booked for the following week.

Meeting People Where the Work Already Happens

On March 19th, Emerge Career held a recruitment and info session at BOGAP (Bronx Opportunity for a Greater Advancement and Progress) at 809 Westchester Avenue in the Bronx. BOGAP is one of the Bronx's most established community organizations serving justice-impacted individuals — and a natural partner for getting the word out about free CDL training.

The session was focused on recruitment: introducing the Next Mile NYC program to people who hadn't heard about it yet, answering questions, and helping eligible individuals start their applications on the spot.

Why Community Partnerships Drive Enrollment

Most people coming out of incarceration don't find workforce programs by Googling them. They hear about them from their case manager, their parole officer, or the community organization that's already helping them navigate reentry. That's why Emerge partners with organizations like BOGAP — because trust is the hardest thing to build, and BOGAP has already built it.

When BOGAP tells someone this program is worth your time, that carries weight. And when that person sees the data — 100% of graduates placed in jobs, average starting salary of $80,000+, zero recidivism among completers — they take the next step.

The Bronx Pipeline Grows

This BOGAP session was one of six Bronx events Emerge held in Q1 2026. Between the recurring study halls at Bronx HYPE in Mott Haven, the BOGAP recruitment event, and the EmpowerHer Job Fair, the Bronx has become a central borough for Emerge's expansion in the city. Bedstuy, Round Two

On March 18th, Emerge Career returned to Neighbors in Action at 1406 Fulton Street in Bedstuy, Brooklyn for a second study hall focused on CLP exam preparation. After the strong turnout at the first NIA session in February, this follow-up was a given.

This time, the room had a different energy. Several attendees were returning participants who had been studying on their own between sessions. They came with specific questions — about air brake endorsements, about what to expect at the DMV, about how quickly they could get into behind-the-wheel training once they passed the written test.

Progress Is Visible

The best part of recurring study halls is watching people progress. Someone who showed up to the first NIA session not knowing what a CLP was is now scoring in the 80s on practice tests. Someone who was unsure about eligibility has confirmed their status and scheduled their exam. These aren't abstract outcomes — they happen in real time, in the room.

Building Momentum

Bedstuy and Brownsville remain two of Brooklyn's highest-need neighborhoods for reentry and workforce services. Emerge's recurring presence at NIA is about more than test prep — it's about showing up consistently so people know the opportunity is real and reliable.

Inside Federal Probation: A New Kind of Partnership

On March 17th, Emerge Career was invited to present at the U.S. Federal Probation Office for the Southern District of New York at 200 Worth Street in Lower Manhattan. This was a recruitment and partnership session — a direct presentation to individuals under federal supervision about how they can access free CDL training and launch careers paying $75,000 to $125,000 a year.

This event was different from the community study halls. The audience was referred by their probation officers. The setting was a federal courtroom. And the stakes were high — for many people in that room, finding stable employment isn't just a goal, it's a condition of their supervision.

Why This Matters

People on federal supervision face some of the toughest barriers to employment. Background checks, gaps in work history, and the stigma of a federal conviction make most job applications a dead end. CDL careers are different. The trucking industry is desperate for drivers, and a growing number of carriers actively recruit justice-impacted individuals — especially graduates of structured programs like Next Mile NYC.

Working directly with the Probation Office means Emerge can reach people at a critical moment — when they're motivated, when they have supervision support, and when a clear path forward can make the difference between recidivism and stability.

A Model Worth Replicating

This was one event, but it pointed to something bigger. When probation offices, supervision agencies, and workforce programs coordinate, the outcomes improve for everyone — participants, their families, and the communities they return to. Emerge's platform gives supervision officers real-time visibility into participant progress, which means they can track outcomes without adding workload.

Light refreshments were provided — croissants, fruit, and coffee. The real offering was a career path.
