We're bringing the trucking industry together in Brooklyn — and we want you there.
On April 16, 2026, Emerge Career and Next Mile NYC are hosting a CDL Employer Hiring Event at the Brooklyn Public Library, Central Branch (10 Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn, NY) from 5:00–7:30 PM ET.
About Emerge Career
Emerge Career is a YC-backed workforce development platform on a mission to create real pathways to employment for justice-involved individuals. Through the Next Mile NYC program — operated in partnership with the NYC Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice — Emerge recruits, trains, and places CDL drivers into quality jobs across the Northeast. Every student receives personalized coaching, job readiness support, and direct connections to a network of fair-chance employers. We only succeed when our graduates succeed.
This event is an extension of that mission: bringing our graduates out of the classroom and directly in front of the companies hiring right now.
What to expect
This isn't just a mixer. We're creating a space where job seekers can sit down with employers, hand over their resume, and potentially walk away with an interview or a job offer on the spot. The evening is designed to move fast and feel real — tables set up by industry, employers ready to connect, and a room full of people who are serious about getting to work.
The Shay Legacy Foundation will also be on site, bringing their trucking simulator and sharing information on entry-level career pathways in trucking and logistics for anyone exploring the industry for the first time.
Whether you're a trained CDL driver ready to take your next step, an employer with open seats, a government partner, or a community organization invested in workforce outcomes — this event was built for you.
- Drivers & Job Seekers: Bring your CDL and a printed resume. Employers will be at the tables and ready to connect — including potential on-site interviews. Free food and drinks provided.
- Employers: Meet job-ready CDL graduates and connect with workforce leaders, government partners, and community organizations doing meaningful work in the region.
- Community & Government Partners: Join a room where the work actually shows up. Connect, share learnings, and explore how we continue building this together.
