Bronx Study Hall at Bronx Hype: Mott Haven Drivers Get Permit-Ready
On Tuesday, June 23, seven New Yorkers spent two hours at Bronx Hype in Mott Haven working through CDL permit material in our weekly Bronx Study Hall. There was pizza, there were practice questions, and by the end several people had a real plan for their commercial learner's permit exam.
This is the work that does not show up in a flyer: sitting down with people who are serious about a $80,000-a-year trade and getting them past the written test that stands between them and the road. Most of the room rated the session a 5 out of 5, and the reasons they gave were not abstract. One attendee, Robert, came to "get answers to questions." Alexander summed up the afternoon in one word: gratitude.
Ready to test, not just thinking about it
The point of Study Hall is movement. By the end of the session, several attendees said they were ready to schedule the commercial learner's permit exam within a week. Two already had test dates on the calendar, including one set for July 6. For anyone still figuring out the logistics, we walk people through how to schedule the CLP exam in New York step by step.
That is what partnering with a neighborhood anchor like Bronx Hype makes possible. People show up where they already trust the room, and the prep meets them there.
