These requirements reflect what trucking employers typically look for when hiring, and we want to ensure you don't invest time and effort into getting your permit only to face employment challenges later.

- No history of failing a DOT drug test
- No multiple violent felonies
Other Requirements

- For NYC students: Must meet income eligibility based on MIT Living Wage standards: https://livingwage.mit.edu/states/36
- For NYC students: Must be willing and able to cross state lines and do OTR (over-the-road) trucking, which requires being away from home for at least 1 week at a time
Please note: While this list covers the main eligibility factors, it may not be exhaustive. Every situation is unique. If any of these criteria apply to you, if your situation has changed, or if you're unsure about your eligibility, please contact Emerge Career immediately.
In some cases—such as certain criminal history or driving record issues—we may be able to work with you if you can provide a pre-hire offer letter from an employer. This helps ensure you'll be able to secure employment after completing training.
